My mom got an Iphone 3G about 2 months ago and she has not been using any of the features that make the iphone so special. So she is giving to me. If i want to have my cell phone number transfered over to the iphone is it as simple as just telling att or is it not possible for my mom and i to swap phones and retain our numbers

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5G77 Safari/525.20)

Yea just throw ur sim card in it and call at&t, just need to give them the IMEI (dial *#06#) and they can put the data plan on ur line.

Enjoy it!

thanks for the reply. So if i do what you said will they not charge my mom for data anymore?

Just make sure your mom tells att to remove the data from her new phone if she will not be using the data. Call att and tell them what you want to do, its simple. Honestly I dont get why people make threads for questions like this when they can just call att.

I dont think its as simple as you make it seem, when you buy an iphone 3G you agree to a 2 year contract which includes keeping the iphone data plan on for 2 years, this is how AT&T can subsidize the price you pay for the iphone. I dont know if its going to be that easy for your mom to remove the data plan off her number.

It will be very simple.

OP, the only thing you need to realize is that by activating the phone on you line you might be resetting your contract (its line by line, so even if you are a family plan, it could reset for your line). Also, AT&T will put the data plan on your line.
