Hi. We are finally making the switch to Macs from windows PCs. On our current computer we use Quicken for managing financial accounts. Is there similar software for Macs?

Quicken for Mac has always lagged the PC version. The gap has narrowed, but there still are differences:

I run the PC version of Quicken under Parallels.

Others worth considering are Banktivity, See Finance, and MoneyDance. There are probably other apps that some folks on the boards here can recommend.

I don't know how other people fare with Quicken for Mac, but I've had disappointing experiences. Among other issues, Quicken never retrieved the proper amount of money when it connected to my checking account. Because of this, all the other calculations were off, which was frustrating as hell. If you are considering Quicken for Mac, definitely give it a go, but be very careful -- check it's calculations manually at first.

If you like Quicken and want to transfer your data over and keep rolling with what you have, I will share my thoughts on the MacOs version. However, be aware that I do NOT automatically download transactions. I like to manually enter things so that I can quickly catch anything wrong with my accounts, so I simply use it as an accounting tool.

For those purposes it is quite good but it does have limitations, especially when compared to the Windows version. The developers have made a lot of improvements in the last 2 years but there are some missing features and standard reports (but many of those you can create on your own with a little ingenuity). My biggest complaint is the way budgeting works, which makes it nonusable for me but I am probably an uncommon case.
