I’m thinking about getting a monitor for my 2015 MBP. I’m a little concerned that it might put too much strain on the computer since it’s already 5 years old. Are my concerns misplaced? If not what should I look for when considering a monitor for it? TIA

here are the specs for my laptop:

I ran my 2011 MBP with a big TV for years, and still occasionally hook it up - you aren't powering the display, just sending data to it. Pretty much anything with an input to match whatever cables/dongles you are using will work.

I have an early 2013 15" Retina Macbook Pro - and I love the way it works with my Dell P2715Q 4K monitors. Text is crisp and sharp, theres plenty of screen real estate, and it's much more productive than working on the laptop alone. I cant think of a reason to get less than a $K monitor except for possibly price.

Thanks for your replies. Now just have to figure out which dongle I will need for an older Apple display. I'm considering a new computer but except for a couple smaller things, this one runs great. So, hate to give it up and spend so much on a new computer.
