Monitor for Mac Mini won't wake up

I recently purchases a Mac Mini and a ViewSonic monitor (VX2252MH). The monitor continues to go to sleep and will not wake up without unless it is shut off and turned on.

It is also not displaying the screen saver options chosen, but simply shutting off.

Is this a monitor compatibility issue or something in the settings I can adjust. No mac Driver or software available on viewsonic website.

What is the setting in Energy Saver for turning off your display? If that time is set to shorter than the screensaver time you will never see the screensaver.
