I know there is threads on this, but they don't seem recent.
With BlackFriday coming up.... I have the new MAcbook pro (with 2 USB-C, no bar) and I'd like to have an external monitor, not a gamer, musician, so mostly to edit, text, music, movie etc...
Since the Macbook pro is retina, I don't want a crappy monitor.
Any suggestions? How much should I pay? (anything below 500 USD, I'm Canadian)
And for connecting, what is the best option, cause from what I've looked on the web,m USB-C port is rare...
Thanks for your advices.

Do you need to have an extra port available, or if one port is occupied by the charge cable and one port is occupied by a USB-C-->miniDisplayPort cable, is this acceptable?

Have you thought about whether you want to go 4k (UHD) or 2.5k (QHD)?

Any thoughts on size? I am guessing somewhere between 23 and 27 inches?

If you are thinking QHD, this is a kick-ass 25-inch display with a very good price relative to what you get. It would also come in way under budget, and would leave you some extra cash for beer & Kraft dinnah :D, or to purchase a USB-C hub with charging (so you can use multiple devices while simultaneously using the display - and you could also then utilize the hub built into the monitor.)

Well which one would be closer to the Retina Display? 4k or QHD?
Cause it it looks bad compared to the Macbook screen, of course I will not use it.
Yes between 23 and 27 is great

To get the closes to the "Retina" of the 13" MacBook Pro, you would need either a 4K monitor in the 21" range or a 5K monitor in 27"
