I have pieced together a nice surround sound system at home and all that is lacking now is some quality picture. Space is a little bit of an issue for me so instead of having a monitor and a tv I would like to have one for both. Can anyone reccomend a good lcd/monitor that would be good for movies but still practical for daily tasks. I would probably like somthing 20" or above. Price preferably under $1200. Thanks

Get a Dell

*ducks*

Seriously, their widescreen displays are amazing. My little brother has a 2005FPW, glorious 1680*1050 resolution, with vga, dvi, component, composite and (I think) s-video inputs. They can be had under $500.

If you want something 1080i/p compatible, then look at the Dell 2405FPW.. Thats around $900

get a dell 2005fpw or a 2405fpw. both are under $1200, and can usually be found well under list price, and both have all the inputs you need (vga, dvi, composite, svideo, & component). to use as a tv, all you need is an old vcr if you have one laying around to use as the tv tuner.

i'm planning on doing the same thing in a few months.

Stuck in the middle with you
I also wholeheartedly recommend the Dell monitors. My 2005 FPW is so bright I almost always have to turn it down. also, since you want to use it as a TV it has composite and svideo inputs. If I were you I'd go for the 24" Dell and get an eyeTV to watch TV.

There is a dell, but there is also a $700 widescreen from viewsonic(I dont remember is it is viewsonic) but it has a low response time and built in tv tuner and a bunch of inputs. Check newegg.com because thats where a friend found it....
