Last Wednesday, I hooked up my new refurb Mac Mini (late 2012 model). Everything seemed fine. I put it into sleep mode several times that night and woke it without issue. I shut it down for the night (I need to replace the battery in my UPS and didn't want to chance it) and the next day, I started having issues.
When I woke it from sleep the first time that day, it was fine. The second time, my monitor flashed "NO SIGNAL" and kept trying to find one, flashing it over and over again. My Mini woke immediately from sleep, but the monitor would not recognize the connection. This happened a few more times. The only way to get the monitor to work again was to unplug it and plug it back in, which is obviously not something I want to do several times a day.
After some digging online, the only two things that I could find that I could do were to reset PRAM and in Energy Saving options, put it where the disk is not put to sleep. I haven't had issues with it since then (Thursday night) until now. I left my computer in sleep all night and when I woke it this afternoon - again - no signal. Then after walking away for 20 minutes and coming back, the same thing happened.
I cannot seem to find a solution, and I am hoping to find one that does not involve getting a new monitor. Quick facts:
- This is the monitor I have. I have had it for a couple of years without issues. I had no issues with it one day on of being hooked up to my Mini, and still have no issues when I try to hook it up to the old PC I am replacing with the mini.
- It's connected via the HDMI to DVI adapter.
- No connections are loose.
- This happens whether it goes into sleep automatically or I put it to sleep, seemingly at random.
- All of my software is up to date.
- I am using a Windows USB keyboard and mouse, but when I wake the Mini, I tap the power button.
I would appreciate any help. This is preventing me from otherwise loving the mini and enjoying it fully.
