Am I right in saying that to plug my MacBook into an external LCD, the LCD will require (ideally) a DVI port? And will I then need to purchase a mini DVI > DVI cable for the MacBook?

Also, what ports would the external monitor need in order for me to plug a Nintendo Wii into it?

Many thanks.

You can buy either a mini DVI to DVI cable, or a mini DVI to VGA cable, depending on the monitor you want to use with it.

To hook up a Wii, you'll need a tv tuner, such as the ones Elgato make.

You can also get the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter to plug it to a VGA monitor, or even S-video and composite with the Mini-DVI to Video adapter. All are $19 at the Apple Store.

If you wanna plug your Wii into your MacBook, no can do, unless you wanna go by some complicated FireWire way, no good.

I believe the Wii has component out, which enables it to plug into screens with component, VGA, S-video, composite, but if you want HDMI or DVI, you'll want a scaler, which are around $300. Try gefen.com.:)

Just to clear up, I didn't really explain clearly...I don't want to plug the Wii into my MacBook, I basically want a monitor that I can plug my MacBook into...and when I want to game, plug my Wii into the monitor.

Thanks for the help so far guys. :)
