I have a stock 2010 2.8GHz quad core. My intention is for it to do double duty as an HTPC and general use. I have it connected to a VGA monitor via dual link DVI to VGA into a KVM switch. This works fine. I wanted to then add my 37" Vizio TV. That is connected via mini displayport to HDMI and a cat6 HDMI extender. With either one of these connected everything works fine. Because of this I am assuming the adapters, KVM switch and cat6 HDMI extender are not a problem. But when I connect both the TV works for about 30 sec then looses signal and the VGA monitor starts cycling through the desktop and extended desktop at different resolutions. Any ideas how to get the two to work together?

For anyone that cares about the fix. I replaced the passive HDMI over dual cat5 extender with a powered extender using a single cat5. This worked for about a day then the audio was all broken up. I tested all my wires and connections and all seemed well. I even tried using the cat5 connected to my router and I got the internet with no problems. Well I was using female keystone punchdown connectors on one end and the other end was the factory male connectors. This was a patch cord I cut to length. The female connectors made a good enough connection to sustain network traffic but no the HDMI signal. I replaced the connectors with male crimp on that are made for stranded wire and all is well.
