Which monitor are you using for your MBP/MBA?

Since I moved my 2015 iMac 5k to my office, I've been itching for a home set up. I ordered a 512/16 MBP and would like to get a monitor for it. Budget isn't too big of a concern (think under 2k).

What is everyone else using?

I'd like to know the same. I have a 5 year old Dell 27 inch, which is fine, but it's no Retina display. I'd like try to get the same experience as I get on my MBA.

I've decided it's time to upgrade from my 2005 Apple Cinema HD Display, the 23" Aluminium ones. I use two currently. I'm planning on getting an LG UltraFine 4K with the Mac mini M1. I hope I can use that one for the next 15 years!

The LG UltraFine 5K works well with the M1 MacBooks. It is $1299, or $1170 if your employer participates in the EPP program.

Don't the official Apple ultrafine monitors look fairly ugly though? From a screen experience, are they as sharp as the Retina screens used in MacBooks?

They have large plastic bezels. However, they are 218ppi and qualify as Retina. They are the same panels used in the 5K iMacs.

I'm my own employer so I don't think I participate lol. However, if it's the exact same panel as the iMac, that's perfect for me.

Thanks!

I’m using my classic 23” Apple Cinema HD display with the M1 Macbook Air. Connection is simple: DVI to USB C adapter. I first tried DVI to MiniDisplayPort to USB C, same as I was using with my 2015 MBP, but it did not work with the M1. Am very happy that the simple DVI to USB C connection works; I love the old Cinema Display, and it’s still got some life left in it.

Do you have any issues with scaling? I heard it refuses to run at 3440 x 1440.
