unplugthe hdmi. re-plug, restart nothing?
Nope.. several times, even switched HDMI to the 1st monitor. Bought another Display port cable and it worked fine.

Definitely an issue with HDMI, DisplayPort works for both monitors.

Same here, also with LG USB-C monitors. weirdly enough, the USB devices connected to the 2nd monitor DO work

Had that many many betas ago.

Currently using an lg 4K usb-c monitor just fine including on todays new beta
Could you share your configuration? I use a mac mini with dual monitors in my office, and currently, I can only use one screen, which is not optimal for my workflow.

Maybe I misinterpreted 2nd display. I counted internal as first. Maybe you each have an issue with 3rd screen (2nd external)

I'm having the same issue as of today's new beta of 12.3 (21E5227a). LG Monitor - USB-C - M1 max 16in.

Interestingly, HDMI out on my MBP works just fine.

Same for me... second external display won't work, Apple have broke something, but I only see this in latest beta this week,

I'm using two LG Ultrafine24", thunderbolt, confirmed same behavior with two different macs.

- Macbook pro... laptop + main work, secondary does not
- mac mini... at first none worked, finally primary display, but not secondary

This is a late beta, disappointing to have this now,

I was able to get USB-C connection working again by completely unplugging my monitor's power (while still connected via USB-C to my MBP) and then plugging it back in. Seems to work normally now? Will test with another display later today.

I have a 2017 27" iMac. My Monoprice 27" CrystalPro display hasn't been detected since the 12.3 public beta began, and still isn't with the RC. I'm connected through an OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock - Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort. It still doesn't detect if I connect directly from the iMac via Thunderbolt to DisplayPort. It all works again if I connect to the display via HDMI, but I'd prefer the DisplayPort interface.

I have a 2018 Mac Mini. I have two LG displays connected by USB > Display Port. I upgraded to 12.3 and I have also lost use of my second display. I can get either display to work, one at a time. However, both will not work at the same time, so I've lost my dual monitor setup.

got the same issue. I make one of the monitor link to the Mac mini with dp and hdmi at the same time, and the other monitor through dp. then the two monitor works. so confusing.

FFS.

Just upgraded this morning and now lost both my secondary monitors (iMac 5K -> 2x USB-C monitors).

Thanks Apple. Can't wait for my important presentation to do in 2 hours. That'll serve me right for expecting enormous bugs not to be fixed through the various beta stages.

Anyone know the best way to downgrade? I need a release of MacOS that's stable and ready for public use to use on my Mac....

If you have a TimeMachine backup, I *believe* restoring to it would bring your iMac back to the macOS version that the backup as made in.

btw I am glad to have read your comment, as it seems most of the folks affected by the display issue are Mac mini owners, while I was pondering if it is safe to update my iMac 2017.

Interesting, thanks. Though I don't use TImemachine.

I guess using an external display is something 100% of Mini users do, and far fewer iMac users.

I'm in the same boat. After updating my USB-C dual monitor set up isn't working. I get one monitor and the second is just a black screen. Interesting though that it on - not in stand by - which tells me it is getting some sort of signal. The only way to get both working is to use HDMI for one and USB-C for the other.

Same issue here with 2x 4K LG Monitors. HDMI trick did not work for me. Sad that this issue was there awhile ago then now it is back. What is Apple doing nowadays other than putting their show with new colors products?

I've solved this problem (on 2022-03-15). On my monitor (LG LCD 27 27UN880-B IPS) I've went into settings, and I've lowered the DisplayPortVersion from the default v1.4 to v1.2. As soon as I've lowered the monitor's DisplayPortVersion, my Mac with OS X 12.3 has started recognizing the second display correctly. It seems that the new OS X update has issues with a DisplayPortVersion 1.4 protocol (has faster data rate, faster refresh, and stream compression). Hope this helps.
