Hi guys,

I have a MacBook with Monterey os and I need to enable the hostname to be recognized from other windows machines, I know what I need to do on Unix like o.s. (I already have in my lan Free BSD 13, Debian Bullseye, etc. and I was able to enable them!) but I don't know what I should do on Mac OS! :\

Regards.
Gabriele

I don’t understand your problem. Could you please elaborate a little more and explain what you’ve tried and doesn’t work?

Open System Preferences > Sharing. It tells you how your computer will be seen on the local network.

Thanks for your reply, I can't ping from a windows client the MAC hostname client, just the ip address works but in a network with dhcp is not easy to find it! :)

Like what I wrote in my first post with other Unix like machine I installed winbind, etc. and windows clients can ping the Unix like machine hostname.

Regards.
