ui elements overlapping and glitching out. things becoming unclickable. its shockingly frustrating to use. with messages being a core draw to the apple ecosystem, its just bizarre that they settle for something so unpolished (something as basic as a messaging app, no less).

not experiencing anything like that. have you considered that you're having an issue with it, and that, instead of just ranting, you post on this often-very-useful forum, and ask for help? 🤔

Why doesn't Messages allow us to select multiple messages to delete like it does on iOS? Why not all of the features iOS and iPad OS have? (minus the ones requiring lidar) And after years of the delete button on the right, the swapped it to the left. They only recently fix capitalizing the first letter of a sentence or a formal word, like the O in Ohio (after I hounded them for years on Twitter.)

I’m open to suggestions, that is why I posted here (forgive me if my tone with Apple is frustrated by I think it is reasonable). Generally I have to close and reopen the app to get whatever is glitching out to resolve. But there becomes a frequency threshold where that feels less like a solution and more like working around a buggy tool.

If you’ve got advice I’d love to hear it. Particularly the issue where I regularly can’t select text in the message I’m composing. The only way I can edit is to backspace everything and retype.

hard to tell what's happening, but perhaps a screenshot would help.

have you tried resizing the window? changing the text size? perhaps reboot into safe mode, then reboot normally. also, which mac, which version of monterey?

for me personally, i need to usually be in front of a mac to troubleshoot. anyway, good luck, really.

I'm having a issue were messages is using 32gb of storage . I have it set to store messages in iCloud. I'm also having the memory leak issue. Mail and Safari will randomly quit. Between this and Homepod OS 15 basically killing my HomePods this has really be the worst software apple has put out in a long time. I was thinking about a new MBP 16 inch but now I'm really scared.
