I'm looking to upgrade a mid 2012 15.4" Intel graphics. Newbie to patching. What do I have to do to go from Catalina to Monterey? I also have a 13" Early 2011 Intel graphics running High Sierra that I'd like to get a later OS for. Any advice, guidance, help welcomed or pointing to a patcher.

Hi, if it's a 15.4" I think it has NVidia graphics. Anyway, I've got two, one on Big Sur/Mojave and one on Monterey/Mojave. Currently Big Sur works nearly flawlessly with a config patch, but Monterey doesn't seem to want to sleep and has no screen brightness controls.

Yes it does have NVidia. Here's the spec:

But have no idea of how to upgrade it to Monterey.

Why do you want to do this? What do you need in Monterey that you don’t have in your current OS? They are really not different. I came from Mojave to Monterey in a machine upgrade, and its not really that different. Some of the stuff that is different you won't be able to run even with a patch because your mac doesn’t have the hardware.

Try going from 10.11 (El Cap, nice solid OS) to Monterey...
Decently fast on a 2012 iMac
Better security, some apps don't like older data files.Cloud is much better
The new randomized email address and masked IP is nice

Look at the well-documented and automated OpenCore Legacy Patcher. You download and run an app and it steps you through it. Your model is fully supported.

You should be able to open Disk Utility and add a volume to install it in addition to Catalina if you have enough disk space. If the install does not work out for you, you can delete the volume group and clear the EFI partition.
