Installed Monterey last night, and discovered this morning that the "old" screen saver selection system no longer works. Gone are the selection for "pictures" (not Photos). And Photos doesn't seem to work as an option; all I get is a black screen. Apple Support says that it doesn't work the same because it was changed. So far for me, looks like it was changed such that it doesn't function. Any one know of any good tutorial on using screen saver in Monterey?

I guess for now there is no use looking for a tutorial. Apple didn't include pictures/photos in the screen saver selections. You get to look at that "hello" instead - whoopee.

I decided that you were not being serious...
I understand about not being able to use your own photos. I do expect this should be fixed in a coming update...
There are several other screensavers (that don't need to process photos), part of the native system - all of these work:
Monterey
Drift
Flurry
Shell
Message (floats a message that you have entered)
Arabesque
Word of the Day

And there's 3rd party screensavers (not every screensaver works), my main one is "Electric Sheep", which is no problem on Monterey, also Aerial works great, using its own built-in hi-res videos/pictures, mostly of cities and moving landscapes of a wide variety.
