Hullo,

I just traded in iPhone 14 Pro Max to the equivalent iPhone 15 Pro Max. A few days ago, I tried to take a telephoto shot of the moon. I was able to do this with the 14 Pro Max, but I am having trouble with the 15 Pro Max moonshot. The camera/app refused to properly focus on the moon, making the image look like a glazed donut.

Anyone seen this problem?

The telephoto camera has always been notorious for focus, and reviewers have mentioned this for the 15 pro max as well. When you point it at the sky with no other high contrast things in the event, it will struggle. Your 14pm pic has some house and trees in the frame, and it’s a lot brighter, which is probably why it could focus.

Actually the real facts is that the 15PM when you point your phone at the moon in auto mode is firing with all 3 lens and with the hdr on it’s throwing it off. Try the same shot with the halide camera app in manual and adjusting the iso and exposure settings and here you go same 15PM it resolves the moon really well. 😂🤣
