Affinity Photo is very nice. But ACDSee? ugh. I think you can get Picktorial for that price right now; might be a better use of one's money (and note the $39 is for ACDSee beta testers).

But Picktorial has zero DAM capabilities. So if all you want is a raw converter with basic non-destructive edits...OK.

The devil is in the details. Do you want destructive or non-destructive editing, do you want a DAM with import/ingest capabilities, do you want managed or referenced library, what kinds of filters/effects do you want.....etc.

Personally I am lost that anyone wants managed library that can not span a single disk volume. So no Aperture, Photos, or new Lightroom CC for me. Give we good old fashioned referenced library who folders and be on N number of drives at the same time.

This is what I am looking for also. While I can see it both ways, this is not how I work, and I would rather have something that bends to what I would like to do or my work flow, rather than me bending to the way they want me to go.

That is why I am so looking forward to the Luminar DAM. Skylum (former Macphun) said late 2016 it would be out in 2017. Then they revised their plans to support both MacOS and Windows (part of the need for a new company name). So as a result the DAM is now coming in 2018. It will a free update to those who purchase Luminar 2018. That is on preorder until the 16th for special price. Exact price depends if you are existing customer or new customer. I will watch On1 Photo RAW as a backup.

Picktorial will soon have additional DAM (photo management) capabilities, and it already has an edge-aware, an eraser, brush-flow control, luminosity and color masks and more.

Understood. I tried the app months ago. But the absence of a DAM to replace Lr Library is a killer for me. So the key is when will the DAM be released....this year? "Soon" is what many companies have said about products that are still not released.

We are working on this, and will gradually release more photo management features during the next months.

I wish you every success. There will be tough competition in 2018 from Skylum and On1 added to the more established companies like Phase One.

Any more information available you can share regarding your plans for a DAM?

While I can't share more details at the moment I would love to hear any feature requests you have as we prioritize our tasks based on users' feedback. Please feel free to email us: support at picktorial.com.

Opted to go with Affinity Photo, myself. Price was very reasonable ($49), no monthly dues for Adobe. Only complaint is that AP does not yet have any type of DAM, but are supposedly developing one for release this year (2018). Adobe gets no more my money.
