I realize in Google (during searches) that I see a lot of ads. Here's and example of one at the top.

I've seen up to 3 ads during certain searches at the top of the page and I'm wondering if this is new to iOS9 and if there's anything we can do to get rid of them?

Bing does the same thing. Search 'Hotel' and you'll see even more sponsored listings and ads. Nothing we can do about that...it's completely unrelated to the OS.

EDIT: See ad-blocker options below:

It's been this way forever essentially. What's new or strange about it?

Be careful what you wish for with blocking ads. I get it when some site or app gets totally obtrusive with the amount of ads that are shown. But if you start blocking EVERY ad on EVERY device, you're going to suck a lot of revenue away from hard-working people. Then you're either going to lose content or have to pay much more for it.
