More dropped calls on a 3GS?

I've had a 3GS for about three weeks, which replaced an old, old Sony flip phone. The Sony was dying quickly and no longer suited my needs, but I have to admit, it almost never dropped a call. I've made about 30 calls on my iPhone in the past three weeks, and I've had 5 drops. Not a huge number, but I hope it won't continue to be that high of a percentage.

Is the 3GS known for being sensitive to poor signals? Or, is it more likely that I just had a run of bad luck last week?

Well I haven't had any problems with mine and I got it when it came out. I'm in San Antonio and at my house I have five bars all the time on 3g. At my parents house it drops to 3-4. I guess it just depend where you are.

This is something to do with where you live, high usage, etc...I wish I could tell you it's the phone. But cell phones, and even moreso cell phone coverage are/is not perfect and yes, sometimes you will drop calls. I've dropped maybe two in the 4 months I've had AT&T.

Never had a dropped call on my iPhone 3G or 3GS.

But then again, I am in Europe, Denmark.

My iPhone 3G & 3Gs have dropped more calls than any other phone I've had.. It's not an unbearable number by any means, and the benefits of all of the other features of the iPhone make it a small price to pay in my opinion.. It's easy to say things like "carrier"- or "Location", or "call volume", etc. etc.- and that makes perfect sense- but the fact is the iPhone with the same carrier, the same locations & relatively comparable call volumes drops more calls than any other phone I've ever had..

Like I said, it's not enough to make me even consider getting rid of it- I won't say I depend on it or anything, but I certainly utilize it to it's fullest potential - but in situations about as similar as you can get to compare the iPhone drops the most calls out of a sample pool of 6-8 different phones..
