So I just ordered the base stock mini (2 ghz, 1GB ram, 120GB hard drive) from a campus computer store. I also ordered the 4GB memory and 500GB hard drive upgrades from OWC. When I popped open the mini to upgrade my components, much to my surprise, there was 2GB (2x1GB sticks) of ram in there?

I didn't see any other occurrences of this on the board and I was wondering how this might occur? We can't customize them from the campus store and they 'claim' these are brand new. It couldn't be a new mini refurb already could it????

Anyway...I'm perplexed.

It's possible your got lucky; can you check the box to see how much RAM was suppose to be in the computer?

Maybe I should start playing the lotto? :)

All documentation (i.e., box and receipt) say 2.0GHz, 1GB ram, 120GB hard drive.

Maybe it was like the old saying never buy a Car from the Big Three if they were built on Monday's, Wednesday's or Friday's because there was quality issues and there always seemed to be extra parts in the vehicle's bc ppl just did not care on those days. I worked for GM and I can attest to this, Monday nobody cared, Wednesday everyone was tired, and Friday no one cared they just worried about the weekend.

Maybe you got one from Apple on one of the Good Built Days
