Hey everyone, I'm back again with the latest video drivers for the 8600GT. I test these drivers on my Macbook Pro, but they should work in the MacPro.
These new drivers are more stable than the previous driver update I posted (177.89 I believe) and they yield the same or slightly higher frame rate depending on what game you are playing.

Make sure you download the modified INF file!!!!

Using 2.4ghz, 2gb ram, 256mb 8600m gt, 169.04 drivers, OC'd 500/675. Can 177.92 improve performance significantly?

I don't have benchmark scores but can run crysis demo 1440x900 low settings (I kno pathetic) average 27fps, never going under 20fps during demo.

I don't really like crysis but it's a good game to test your system performance =]

Upgrading from the current driver you have, you should see a 5 FPS increase

Do I need to uninstall the old drivers first? And run drivercleaner and all that good stuff? Because reading their instructions, they say nothing about deleting old drivers.

I've only tried these on a MacBook Pro, so unfortunately I can't help you out there. If the Apple drivers work better, use them.

I didn't uninstall the old drivers, so just install the the new ones.

I'm always skeptical of these drivers, because every time I give them a shot games either run slower, are less stable, or some other odd thing happens that isn't in my favor. I know the default BootCamp 2.1 driver isn't the newest by far, but it has worked very well for me (and has shown me the best fps). But I mean I'm not trying to discourage anyone from trying them. I've read a lot of good reviews about them too.

it all depends on which drivers you use. some of the drivers aren't very stable. there are others that do improve performance and stability, also allows better overclocking. even a 5fps increase is alot as it could be the difference between 25fps and 30fps. in many of the new games, 25fps and 30fps shows a huge difference.

Hey guys, i've got a question about these drivers:

These drivers don't work on my computer, it keeps giving me the same error message that's it's not compatible with my current hardware. I've tried loads of different sites but i can't find anything that works. Can any1 explain what i must do to in order to get this working? Or some1 know a guide or something?
I need this driver to play AoC, which gives me a warning every time about my video driver being too old, and it needs a higher version (over 169.7). Thank you all for your time, i would really appreciate some1 telling me what to do :)

Comp specs and programs:
3.06GH, 2gb of RAM, Geforce 8800 GS
Running Windows XP (32 bit) on bootcamp (version 2.1)
