ok som1 plz inform me...my co-worker let me borrow office 2004 student teacher edition..i install it blah blah blah..i enter the product key everything goes well...but what i still dont understand is what are the files i can delete w/o causing breaks in the file. for example...i installed msn messenger too (really happy i have this now i can video chat now using the intergrated camera yesss) and after it was done installing it alerted me that theres a newer version and if i wanted to install it ok...so i was lke sure ill get the new version but then it leaves two im guessing..installation files on the desktop one called MICROSOFT MESSENGER and MESSENGER511.DMG these files look like installation files where i can trash them as soon i am done upgrading the version. i delete both files or either one and it then wont allow me to use msn messnger like i f'd up the files to run the actual program (the msn icon on the dock has a question mark on it)

so..like..what are those files? sorry to confuse the majority on this but its mind boggling.

thanks

As I recall msn messenger u drag and drop it's not an install as such. When the window with the program icon comes up drag that t your applications folder and run it from their.

I think your probably running it from the mounted version.

That might not make much sense but I think theirs a lot about it around here if you need any more explanations of it.

The one called Microsoft Messenger is not a file, it's a mounted disk image. Double click on it, and copy the MSN Messenger application that it contains to your Applications folder. After you've done that, select both "files" (the mounted image and the .dmg file) and drag them to the trash. Done.

BTW, you won't be able to video chat using Microsoft Messenger. If you want to video chat over MSN, check out a program called aMSN. There's also Mercury Messenger.
