I absolutely love my macbook pro. I would really like to use it to take notes in meetings or in class but the one thing that is sorely lacking is the ability to making drawings or sketches. A tablet would obviously solve this problem but that is a bit overkill for my taste. All I really need is a better way to control the trackpad because my finger isn't very precise. Is there anything available that I could hold in my hand like a pen so I could make motions on my trackpad that would move the mouse? If so, it seems like this could be a perfect alternative to a tablet for making a quick sketch.

Right, but I guess I'm asking whether the touch pad is similar enough to a tablet like this to allow for a stylus to be able to write on it. Sorry for not making it more clear.

Well, I don't know if a stylus would work with the touch pad or not, but you're not going to get the sensitivity you're looking for. Even with the Graphire series tablets it's not fantastic, I think you'd have to get an Intuos. It depends on how serious you are.

Edit: no, you can't use a stylus with the touch pad. That'd actually be pretty interesting.
