Apple has given warning that it could be removed from the highly regarded Nasdaq Global Select Market, as the maker of iPod and Macintosh acknowledged for the first time that it was the subject of a federal investigation into its stock option practices.

The guys just won't stop...They must smell something fishy.:(

I welcome the all-out investigation. It will either end this definitively, with nothing happening, or bring any guilty parties to justice. Hopefully other companies get the same treatment as Apple, and that this can be over with soon.

Of course, "Federal" and "soon" rarely go hand-in-hand, so I'm guessing if Jobs even is indicted or anything, he will be probably well on his way to retirement and someone else will be pushing OSXI.

It's important to remember that in these filings, companies include lists of things that could possibly go wrong, not things that are necessarily likely to go wrong. Apple filings routinely include the possibility that earthquakes could wipe out their offices, and that they will be in big trouble if people don't buy their products. Of course, no Murdoch rag is going to mention details like that, when they get in the way of a good story.
