my music library is on an external drive which slowly seems to be dying, I’ve bought a new one and was wondering what the most efficient way is to move my very large library to it? I’ve copied the entire music folder onto the drive including the music library file, opened music with option to select that file but the song files aren’t being found (most likely because the new drive path doesn’t match the old one?)? In the worst case I’ll just rebuild it from scratch by dragging all the files into iTunes but since it’s an identical mirror of the existing library with index and all I was wondering if there’s a way to make the music app read the existing files from the new drive just like before.

You may be better posting this in the Apple Silicon section.

In earlier versions of MacOS, in iTunes you would just point to the new library.
If you have just moved the Music folder, there are probably other files MacOS is looking at in the original location.

Should still be able to move like in the old days.

Copy the library to new external, Option key while bringing up Music. Specify new location.

(And here is good for this topic)
