Ive seen quite a few sites where people have modded their mac mini, made servers out of them, put them in cool glass cubes to emulate the older mac cube thing apple did, some people have even changed the processors, from what i understand the mini processor is soldered so is tricky, but whats the most insane mini mod youve ever seen.

Post your findings here as im curios to see what people have done, be it hardware, software, OS, peripherals, asthetics etc etc

Would be interesting to see if anyone ever tried to put a Intel C2Q in a mini assuming the Mobo could take it...

Tell us what you got/seen, include links or pictures if you can, otherwise just describe it here.

Really? i read somewhere months ago it was soldered, perhaps one of the first gen models? or maybe my mind is playing tricks on me... :p

Oh and i never done research because i have seen a few before, i just wanted to see what other people found, im not particularly interested in modding any myself, just curios to see how far people have pushed the mini to its limits really...

One thing, i remember seeing a small company they manufactured glass housing's for the mini, but i cant find them anymore :(

Uhh, the intel minis have always been socketed.

I just installed a C2D T7600 (2.33Ghz) in mine (that's the max chip you can put in it.)

just froogled that C2D T7600 2.33 cheapest i could find is £227.95 inclusive of VAT, does the price really justify the performance boost? how noticable is the difference?

Its about half the price of the machine itself..
