I have a MP 1,1 that requires a restart after a few seconds. My son appears to have disconnected the monitor without turning the MP off first.

Possible cause and effect?

Or is it likely the logic board just gave up the ghost? No other recent changes, it's running 10.6.8.

Or something else?

Thoughts appreciated.

It's a 2x2.66, 1 TB, 8 GB, 7300 graphics.

Could you provide a little more information? Details go a long way :D

Why do you need to restart it every few seconds? What exactly in detail does it do that you need to restart it?

Disconnecting a monitor with the computer on will do no damage to it unless dvi pins got bent or something.

mine froze on startup. There was a similar restart incident caused by a bent dvi pin. I removed the videocard and now use the computer through the network via screen sharing

Thanks to all -

Turned out to be what I should have started with - a bad RAM module. Now I just need to figure out which one it is . . .
