A few weeks ago, I noticed that most of my groups on Contacts had disappeared. The contacts were still there but not the contacts. I think, but I'm not sure, that it started when I rebooted my mac mini for the first time in three years.

There used to be 40 groups, but contacts on iCloud.com is now only showing 7 groups.

Very strangely, although they are all on the same iCloud account, my devices are showing different groups.
My mac mini and my iPhone are showing 7 groups: the same as on iCloud.com
My ancient MacBook is showing 6 groups
My iPad is showing 13 groups.
My newer MacBook is showing 8 groups

So I'm worried that my iCloud has become corrupted.
Does anybody know why this might have happened? And what, if anything I can do about it? I've been talking to Apple about it all day, and they have been no help at all.
