multi-touch or not, IPS display on a tablet is wonderful, and something I have been looking for in-and-of-itself, never mind all the other awesomeness of the iPad.

are any of the MacBook Pro models even IPS?

any notebook/laptop/netbook at all have IPS...? Last I remember there might have been 1 or 2 Lenovo notebooks that had IPS, and they cost almost $4K.

IPS for the win!

Would not surprise me if maybe Apple might pull some slight-of-hand on the display in future models, and attempt to provide a nice TN display as opposed to IPS, especially if they make a smaller one (big if.)

Definitely, display is absolutely gorgeous. That's the first thing people notice about my iPad, how colorful and bright and sharp it is.

It does (oleophobic coating). I probably wipe it off about 10x per day but it is easy to wipe. Which is another reason I don't use a screen protector because you would lose that advantage.

Only 10? I have my glasses cloth in my hand constantly. All day with the wiping. And it wipes beautifully.

How is the display for reading a bunch? I have kinda had a hard time recently reading Kindle books on my iPhone. I mean I read a bit but then I guess I get tired or something. I can also read on my MacBook Pro now, so it's not as big of a deal. But I'm wondering how good the reading is on a screen much bigger than my iPhone, especially if it strains your eyes any.

I have heard about this, have not witnesses it on my iPad. If there are "scratches" it is most likely in the coating.

It's been great for me, I'm not experiencing any eyestrain reading about 1-2 hours per day (that's just iBooks, not including web surfing etc.). But, everyone has different sensitivities and tolerances so it's hard to say until you try it yourself. I do like having the backlight for reading in bed. Some will say the backlight is hard on your eyes, but to me that's easier than fighting to find a good position to receive adequate ambient light. Text would look sharper and smoother if the screen resolution were higher (1280 or 1600 pixels across). You can see the antialiasing and edges, so you're not getting a perfect, printed-text-like experience, but it doesn't look bad at all.

Yes, my only immediate request for the next iPad display is more ppi. Mabye 1440 across. Actually 1280 might be the best. Text too small with much more ppi
