What OEM makes the most reliable devices with the least amount of bugs and hardware repairs?

I've only owned samsung ones so couldn't really say how reliable they are. I didn't own the nexus 7 and LG G3 for long enough to make any kind of assessment.

What's better between the G3 and S5 though?

Nexus devices.

Since they give updates quicker than anyone else and Google is very flexible with its return procedures?

I'd agree with nexus devices. Faster updates for everything and OEMs aren't messing up android with their terrible skins.

To add, those are also the developer models, so most apps are made with them in mind, so most apps seem to run better with less forced closes. At least that has been my expierence.

The galaxy s5 in my opinion. I only had the LG G3 for two days before returning it for the S5. I've had the S5 for 2.5 months now and I'm really pleased with it.

What was wrong with the G3? I am considering moving to that right now myself.

My main issues were:

The screen (over sharpened)
Over heating
Stuttering when playing videos from my SD card

Furthermore it felt like a downgrade from the galaxy note 3 that I was using.

SD cards have different qualities and speeds i believe. You need to make sure to spend more for the better ones.

What provider is key here.

If CDMA then I'd say Samsung Galaxy S5 or Note 3 or HTC One M8

If GSM then Google Nexus device. I'd stay away from Moto at this point until we see what happens as they transition to Lenovo. My experience with Lenovo's PC support is less than stellar.

And honestly on either platform any on the CDMA list are a solid choice.

I had the same issues with the G3. I used this SanDisk Ultra 64GB microSDXC Class 10 to play videos and music.

Isn't the HTC One M8 also a very reliable phone? Haven't read many complaints with people needing to have it replaced etc.

That's the same card I used in the G3. I wonder if it's just that card it has problems with or SD cards in general.

This is probably why Apple doesn't use SD Card slots. Apparently it affects the performance and user experience of the phone if you don't get a good one.

It was a good one. It was the *SanDisk Ultra 64GB microSDXC Class 10. Besides the same SD card was working perfectly in my note 3 so I knew it wasn't the card. It's since worked perfectly in my galaxy S5, tab pro and mobile lite wireless.

No Apple just want to charge ridiculous amounts for more storage ;)

I've never had any problems with my SD cards, except for with the LG G3.

I can't argue the charging more for storage point. :)

I don't have the overheating or stuttering issues you mentioned, though the over-sharpening is of course there. I don't see it as too big of an issue though.

OP, if you are considering a G3, I highly recommend it. Amazing device.

To answer the topic question: Google is great with replacing/repairing a nexus device if it goes wrong. However, both Nexus devices I've owned have had issues. Nexus 10 gave me months of headaches with a memory leak that plagued that device alone. Forced it to restart every few hours of usage, getting continually slower until it did reboot. Had it replaced 6 times before finally asking for a refund, all had the issue. There's a several-hundred page long thread about the issue, though it was fixed with 4.3 IIRC.

Nexus 7 (2013) is far better, though mine has occasionally dealt with phantom touches in the past. Not too big of an issue, and I haven't dealt with it for a while. It is a great device.

Motorola followed by the nexus devices. I would put the Motorola's above the nexus devices as they don't suffer from reception issues and various touch screen issues that certain nexus devices suffer from. The battery life is also very consistent on the Moto X. I attribute this to it's excellent reception. Poor reception will make a phone drink battery. I have a feeling this is one of the reasons why the nexus 5 performs so much worse than the moto x in real world battery life.

Take it from someone that owns both those phones, what you have stated is not fact for all users. I tend to get more life out of my Nexus 5, especially on WiFi. On LTE, it is close, but the Nexus usually lasts a tad longer.

Just to clarify, you asked about most reliable device with the least amount of bugs and hardware....

The literal answer is Googles own device. There is NO other phone that is more supported on Android as Googles phone. Google does an exceptional job as it sets a standard for all. It is also the default developer phone.

Now if you wanna talk battery life, feature set, screen quality, etc... That's another conversation that folks above this post seem to be having.
