Motion Graphics Newbie requesting advice

Hello Motion Graphics experts and gurus!

I'm currently learning Final Cut X and want to do some motion graphics. One of the main reason I would like to learn Motion Graphics is to do something similar to these for my video presentations (someday):

Is this possible in Motion 5? I'm considering Apple Motion because it is only 50 USD and I'm sure integrates with Final Cut X very well. Not to mention it has a reputation of being easy to use unlike Adobe After effects.

PS: What do you call these kinds of videos anyway? (mostly animated words and messages)

Motion could definitely do all that.

Motion is easier to use but you cant do as much as after effects as a result. anyway, what u are looking at is called time based typography
 
I think I may buy motion just to try it. (Sorry OP I've never used it but I know it can do what you are trying to do).

It would be nice to get tutorials that don't require Trapcodes plugins like what you get with After Effects tuts.
 
While I would agree that Motion is your best bet in terms of ease of use, if you wish to continue in motion graphics professionally, it's pretty much essential that you learn After Effects at least at some point, since it's pretty much the standard. If you're a student, there are some pretty significant discounts as well.

I absolutely agree with 12dylan34.

Professionally, I'm a graphic designer (currently working in e-comm though I try never to tie myself to just one medium). I've visited dozens of digital agencies and I can honestly say none of them used the FCP suite. All of their assets are created and processed with the Creative Suite, AfterEffects is (pardon the understatement) robust, and it flows right back into the workflow with other CS apps.

Pre-FCP X I decided to give Apple another chance; I was horrified. Really shoddy file handling and poor codec interoperability. The software was so ancient and outdated I felt confident Apple was selling what they could waiting to announce FCPs end.

But they didn't. The new suite seems just fine to me. Motion, though it uses different language to describe menu items, fx, tools, etc, has all the control AE does (though I wasn't able to test out how it handles virtual cameras in composite 3D environments). The UI looked very nice! Clean and deceptively minimalistic, gave it a less foreboding feel than AE. ;)

Bottom line: it takes heaps of time to get any good with motion graphics and and much of that time will be spent learning to manipulate the tools. AfterEffects is here to stay and is VERY robust. Why risk wasting your time with an uncertain platform? (I say this while lamenting time used trying to get AS3 competency only to have Mr. Jobs bless HTML5 and put a final nail in Flash's coffin...)

Motion is pretty darn good, I still don't understand the bad wrap with it though... The UI is great, for quick Motion graphics job I've been reaching for this rather than AE lately, for the higher end stuff, plugins, etc AE is still king though so I'm not saying it's an AE killer because it's just not.

If anything Motion is a great tool for positioning to AE and other high end compositors, learn it then head to AE.
