Hello everyone!

Does anyone know if there is a possibility of running Motion 1 or Motion 2 on mac mini?

Thnx in advance!

I don't think the Mac mini meets the system requirements for Motion. Even if it does, I can 100% guarantee that Motion won't run acceptably on a Mac mini. The main limiting factor is the video card. Motion will take all the GPU power it can get, and the GPU in the Mac mini just isn't powerful enough.

I would guess no. Or, more specifically, I guess yes, it could technically run, however not very well whatsoever. ;) I think the processor and RAM requirements put it out of the league of the Mac mini - until Apple gets rid of that G4 processor under the hood and replaces it with a nice new Yonah, that is. ;)

Yeah, okay, here you go. Although the minimum requirements include a G4, here are the recommended system requirements:

Macintosh computer with dual 2GHz or faster PowerPC G5 processor
2GB of RAM or more
Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger”
Display with 1280 x 1024 resolution or higher
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, 9800 XT, X800 XT or NVIDIA GeForce 6800 graphics card or better

:( Too bad then.... Theres only one mac, mac mini, in the whole house... I have tried Final Cut Pro 5 , Soundtrack Pro, DVD studio pro 4 and i must say i dont have any problems running these programs on my mac mini... I dont actually care that motion will run slowly on this mac... I wish i could get a crack that allows Motion to be installed on mac mini

There's actually an installer/compatability check on the Motion site. Have you downloaded and tried that?

As far as I know the system that prevents FCP from being installed on computers less than system requirements is only a text file that can be edited easily...I did that in an emergency when I really needed to open something on a computer with 256mb RAM (don't ever try it, but it worked for the moment).

Motion would be brutal on a Mac Mini...it takes huge advantage of the graphics card and the one in the Mini is not really good enough...

Well, at least i can run Adobe After Effects 6.5 on my mac mini...

The problem is the graphics card. Motion is one of the most GPU dependent applications out there (besides games) and so if you have a fairly weak GPU like the one in the mini, you're just not going to get good performance out of it. According to the other posters in this thread though, you shouldn't have much trouble getting it to install. I'm sure instructions for doing so can be found on the web.
