Moto 360 Straps + Apple 42mm Watch Adapter

Has anyone tried it? I used to have the Moto360 before and I enjoyed their leather straps. And they cost only 30 bucks

....compared to the $150 dollar pricing. :eek::eek::eek::(

Curious if anyone has done this?

Just saw some YouTube videos and it looks like it should fit...he bands are 22mm though so might look skinn on 42mm apple watch

I just got an adapter from Amazon. Now looking for a best buy that has one of these straps..

So it looks like if u have spring bar adapter, u can take 24mm, and if u have a tubular one like on the BCB, u will need 22mm or smaller.

Anyway, I just ordered a spring bar one in eBay for $17. I will probably buy a 360 band sometime this wkend or on eBay and will report back with pics

I'm not sure the moto bands have the right edge that fits where the lugs would be. Seen some M bands that have a notch in the middle which I think would look awful with the pin showing through it. Best look would be a flat edge at the watch base lugs.

And the illustrations (weird way to sell bands on the Motorola site) on the link you provided, almost look like the bands would have a curved end to them. Can't understand who would buy a band off that site at all. Why not just show the bands? No views of the bands laying flat unconnected to the watch on either of those four styles they feature.

I would definitely look at them in person. With one of the adapter styles available for the AW, you have a lot of possibilities from many manufacturers.

They shouldn't be curved. I used to known the black band before giving it to my friend. It's should be the standard strap.

I actually have two straps right now:
  1. Classic Buckle from Apple
  2. Third party strap located here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WWGAJK6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
I'm looking forward to removing the crappy strap from the third party one and replace it with a better grade. If it works out, then I will return the Classic Buckle and save some money.

What's a Spring Bar Adapter?

I have the Classic as well but am keeping. Sorry I missed your question in red. Here's a thread on them showing the package.

I bought my adapter from this seller and actually got mine in the mail today (came earlier than expected too). They look good. I matched them up against my classic band to check size. Haven't taken them out of the packaging yet as my watch bands I ordered from globalwatchbands.com won't arrive until Friday (so far very happy with them as well, nice on the phone and prompt shipping). Both seller and watch band company are in the U.S. so you don't have to deal with language issues when you have questions about what you are interested in and the ship time is short when in stock. You should check them out for leather bands. If you do ask them about their Father's Day sale. I saved an extra 10%.

BTW the freedomoclock seller in NY also sells adapters with the curved tubular extension. I bought that one as well but need to pick up some loctite to set the screws so they don't come out. That style is pretty much a one time band version as the screws should be replaced with new ones if removed. Have no idea where to get those tiny, tiny screws so I'm reserving it for something i would want to keep on the adapter. The other spring style adapter is more changeable.

Oh i see what you are saying. Thanks for the picture. I think the third-party version i'm using is a curved tubular extension. But it's good to know there are other methods.

Here's a picture of the brown leather strap from a moto 360. I used the adapters off of my hoco stainless band. I haven't had any problems with the strap fitting or anything but as you can see, due to the way the band is made it leaves a gap in the middle where the bar attaches together. This isn't ideal and probably not great in the looks department but it doesn't bother me too much. And, it was free so...
Edit to say... I put this on to show you guys what it looks like on the 42mm version. While everything fits okay and I had no problems making it work right out of the box, I don't know that I would wear this every day. The band is good quality but that gap in the middle can bit a bit distracting. Hope this helps any of you thinking about getting one

All of the knockoffs that are based off of the Apple classic buckle take a 24mm just fine.
And if you look at the genuine classic buckle there's at least 1mm of play on either side of the strap.
Apple might spec 22mm for the 42 but 24mm should work.

So I found a best buy that had the Moto 360 Strap. I used my third party adapter to apply the bands. Here is how it looks thus far...

I have a sports watch - Space Grey version.

I'm still breaking in the leather. But for 30 bucks...it's easily a better deal than spending 150 bucks. The only thing interesting is that the Classic Buckle is definitely lighter.

I'm tempted to also buy the grey version.

The color is nice. Don't see that shade of brown as often. Lots of darker browns I've noticed. I'm more of a perfectionist I guess and the cutout with the adapter and seam showing through would bug me. I've been looking and there are a lot of places out there with lower cost plain leather bands selling for $50 or under. $50-100 some really nicer quality leather and specialty skins. I don't think I'd go above that although I did get my watch with a classic band. Suspect that will be the top of my band range and probably the only one at that point.

This is color is quite nice. I'm starting to like it and this was a good starting point to look for better straps. I wish Apple would sell just the adapter as then i would know it is actually to their specification instead of third-party copying something.
