So i got my Moto G last week and i've been waiting for Kit Kat but anytime i check it says i'm up to date with 4.3.

Its a UK 16GB model. Is my only recourse to manually flash it cos thats a pain i'd rather not go through.

Any other UK user with 4.4 on their Moto G?

I have a Phones4u bought "Retail.en.gb" model of the Moto G and AFAIK, we're still waiting for KitKat to hit our G's

If you have a Tesco Mobile branded Moto G the KitKat launch has already happened and should be available.

I never would have thought the network modified version (for Tesco) would have been first myself but I'm OK waiting for now. :D

Yeah i was gonna get the Tesco version but the custom rom and being locked to Tesco was off putting. I know those are easily solvable but just opted for somewhere else.

Its good to know i'm not alone though. So i don't mind waiting. Just wanted to be sure.

4.4.2 for the Moto G just started rolling out in Europe today. Hold tight and you'll get it soon.

Other than the waiting for 4.4 what do you think of the moto G performance wise.

I just got it a few days ago so it is too early to tell really. So far so good though. I did download some apps and the speed was fantastic which surprised me. The apps needing updates blazed as well. And the screen? Well you don't see this gorilla glass and IPS LCD for this price and PPI as well.

You'll like this. I tried Rayman jungle run. Smooth as silk and I did the first four teeth each on the first shot.

Lol. Thanks :)

Yeah I'm thinking as a second handset nothing seems to offer better hardware / price ratio.

Like a Nexus 4 with decent battery!

I can't fault the performance of mine. :D

Looks like I'm going to have to go shopping :D

Been quite impressed with it. Feels like a flagship device. Battery life is very good (and i mean very good). As for performance, it is all-round speedy. No real red-flags that i can think of.

If i'm nitpicking, its that the bottleneck seems to be the 1GB of RAM rather than the CPU/GPU/IO. 420MB or so after boot. But even then it simply acts like an iOS device with lower RAM (e.g. 4S) i.e. it furiously suspends inactive apps to keep things chugging. But no slow-downs or freezes that i've noticed.

I think KitKat will improve the situation quite a lot, since its actually designed for devices with even less RAM than the Moto G in mind.

Overall, performance is quite good, and certainly above and beyond what you'd normally expect at this price range. And that is why i chose it over the NX5.

The G has been surprising me every day, this phone handles the job. The biggest and only down side is the camera. Perhaps the Moto G 2 will come with a better camera.

Going to see if Moto do anything with the X tomorrow but Im thinking for future use I want a secondary phone that is a good balance of price & performance.

My Mum has an iPhone 4 and I'm very tempted to get her the Moto G.

She's been eyeing up Android devices for a while. Good to hear positive feedback.

Retail.en.gb is out and doing the rounds in waves, the way Android updates are pushed out.

Kitkat removes native OTG file reading although third party OTG peripherals should still work. Some third party file managers such as Nexus Media Importer provide a way of accessing data on external media.

I downloaded GT Racing 2 and RR3, the latter I have played elsewhere. Both loaded fairly quickly and ran very smoothly. I like GTR 2 better actually, not sure why I never tried it before.

This smartphone is impressing me more and more. The screen is very good and the battery life is excellent. I installed Snapdragon Battery Guru so it may get even better down the load.

I read somewhere a Note 2 and IP5 was given up for this puppy. Glad I tried it, not returning it!

Just got the notification for 4.4.2.

I've just finished installation on mine. Seems good so far.

I was already using the Google experience launcher on 4.3 and its working perfectly on KitKat. Interestingly enough, the stock moto g launcher on 4.4 has translucent soft buttons and bars unlike the AOSP launcher on Nexus devices.

Indeed.

Seems to be running well thus far. I like the UI changes.

Would be interesting to see if the Moto G gets any further updates after this. I suppose today's release of a Play Edition version increases the chances.

Definatly a nice upgrade from a iPhone 4. Not far off a free upgrade as well as the iPhone 4 still sells for a decent amount if in good condition.

Since Motor is a Google company i suspect they will be wanting to set a good example and update for a decent amount of time.
