I don't know if this is the right forum, so I'll apologize right off if it isn't (mods please move as appropriate).
I was watching hockey last night (go Oil) and there was a newish Fido (canada) advert showing a phone that looked like a Motorola (slvr) with a side slide out, similar to the LG F9100. As I've spent the last while googling everything and getting nowhere, I've turned to the land of supreme knowledge (yes, here :)). I was wondering if anyone knows what model of phone it could be and if this phone is available now. Thanks

it's not that hard to get used to predictive text, i tend to hammer in my messege then go back and correct mistakes if any.

Yeah, I imagine it could get more natural, with practice. Thing is I'm moving soon, and will be bouncing around a fair bit, so I'll finally have to break down and get a cell. I've been looking around to see what's out there so I can make the best informed decision when the time comes. And since I've never owned a cell phone, I have nothing to on but the good old web, and lovely informative members here at MacRumors :D

i love that phone!! its been so good to me. haha. it cant hold many ringtones though. thats the only thing i dont like about it. i almost got a hideous razr but last second saw this pearl-and-navy lg and grabbed it immediately.

i dont reccommend it for guys so much, though. unless you have something to carry it in. i dont like carrying it in my pocket cause it is a bit bulky. it stays in my purse. so. if you have a male purse equivalent, itll be fine. otherwise..

the keyboard is fabulous though. i love it. :)

Thanks for the posts. I think it could have been the LG9200 as shown, it's just a small shot in the upper right corner at the end of the ad, so it's hard to make out what model it actually is.
Thanks figmentpigment for the pseudo review, I think I'll probably pass on the LG as I would like something small and easy to carry around.
So the wonderful users at MacRumors have come through again.
This is such a good forum
Thanks a lot. :)

Well euphoria from the game last night, and like I said it was a small picture up in the corner, and the numbers are in a similar layout.
Like I said I've never had a cell, and generally find them very very annoying (more appropriately, they people who use them), so I haven't paid much attention to them.

Yeah, you are right, sometimes they are really very annoying. But I cant imagine my life without it.

Give us an update when you have made your decision

I would go with a Nokia Phone. I had lots of different ones, but Nokia's Interface is the best.. Motorola's was very bad, but I haven't seen the new ones - according to some reviews, it improved a lot.
I guess your best option is to go to a store a try them all out and see what best fits your needs.

Thanks for your help with my searching endeavours heaven, (feel stupid now as that was the first phone link on the page, but it's closed  ).
I get to choose between Rogers, Fido or Telus. Once I decide which provider, I'll have to choose one of their phones. I'm thinking Rogers and the Z520 right now, but that might change. Have to talk to some friends who are living where I'll be and have already gone through the "which plan is best for me thing". I'll be using it as my only phone so I want to make sure I get a good phone, and have a good provider.

Sony Ericssons are great mobiles. My mom uses only SE. She has 2, the old one is now 3 years old and works perfectly - we use it a spare one. (you dont wanna know how often it fell down).

Btw, here are lots of pictures of the Z520, including screenshots of the Interface.

Hope that I could help you a bit.

You definitely did, thanks.
Now I just have a couple of months to make up my mind and get the best deal.

i dont like the way razrs look. somethin about 'em just isnt right. i think its the weird look of the buttons. how they look like something from a fake display or something, and the really weird finish they have.

also:
made-up faces + ultra-shiney keypad with lots of grooves = ....hideous phone.

but. i like the slvr a lot.

Isnt the slvr basically the razr candybar style??
