I find that if I have one window open (no files selected), I'll scroll down to the bottom. From another window, I'll move a file over to the first one. As soon as I drag the file over, the first window will automatically scroll to the very top. Then I decide to select the file I just copied over to the first window (this actually happens with any selected files), so that it's highlighted. The file will be closer to the bottom of the window. I'll then scroll to the middle of the window, and repeat the same process with another file copied over to the first window from the second. Except this time, instead of scrolling to the top automatically, it will scroll automatically to the highlighted file. I can select a file all the way at the bottom, and without fail whenever I copy a file over to that window, it will always scroll to the highlighted file were I am in that window.
Another issue I'm finding in ML, is when I click on a window in the background, it refuses to come to the foreground. The only way it to come to the front is if I click on an actual file in that window or the title bar. Clicking anywhere else in the window will do nothing to bring it to the front.
I'm also getting the beach ball far more frequently now in ML than I ever did in SL. It's like ML never got the file indexing done properly. It took a couple of days for the indexing to complete for me. Every so often when I open a folder, or move a file from one subfolder to another within the same window, I get the beach ball. As if ML is searching and indexing each time.
This only started happening when I upgraded to Mountain Lion. I also find that Mountain Lion on my Mac Pro is pretty laggy. Not bad, but annoying enough. I can see/feel the difference in speed between my previous 10.6.8 and 10.8.5. I thought 10.8 was suppose to be peppy. I don't even want to take as stab at Mavericks. I only switched from 10.6 to 10.8 because many apps were requiring Lion and up. And 10.7 from what I use at work, and from opinions of other Mac users, is pretty crap. So there was no point in upgrading to that. Anyone have any tips in getting my performance back as it was in SL?
I'm sorely disappointed in ML. I had to find workarounds and third party software to get back the features I had in SL, but was removed from Lion and ML. System is more laggy. And other than being able to update to the latest versions from my apps, I have seen no significant benefits between SL and ML. Only more issues.
Note: I did not do a clean install from 10.6.x to 10.8.x. Straight up update. But I do a regular maintenance on my Mac, to ensure garbage and old, obsolete files are removed. I did this prior to updating to ML.
