Hi, I'm new here - to Apple OS X and to this forum - so be gentle with me!

I've just got a new MBP with Mountain Lion on it and spent some time trying to get everything set up so it works properly: email, calendar etc...
I've already got an iPad, so hoped that with an Apple laptop, the setup would be similar and I'd be fully synchronised everywhere.

Apart from struggling with the lack of user settings in Mail, compared to what I could configure on the iPad, my big problem is with the Calendar:

I am using Google Calendar, which syncs the multiple calendars to iPad without problem.
With Mountain Lion / Calendar I can set up the connection to Google, with the email address, server address and password. I can also add delegates for the multiple calendars. The problem is that it keeps asking for the password, repeatedly and constantly.
The password is of course correct.
Calendar is importing some events, but not all, and every time I go back to Calendar it asks for the password again, in addition to asking for the password when updating in general...

I've searched here and online in general to see if this is a known problem, but can't find much.
I've followed the Google instructions, to no avail.
I've deleted and redone the settings. Made no difference.

As the iPad works fine, I'm assuming it is a Mountain Lion issue, rather than a Google issue?
Either that, or I am doing something significantly wrong - which I hope I'm not, having decided to dump windows!

Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.

No idea how to fix it, but I wanted to add that I have the same problem. When I update my week's work schedule, I get the same incessant requests for my Google Calendar password. I use Fantastical to quickly add appointments, and the requests are definitely a pain to deal with.

Same problem here, but it's intermittent. I also have an exchange account setup, and Mail tries for a very long time to connect to the internal server path before it tries the external address. Sometimes I have to enter the google AND the Exchange password, sometimes not. Don't know if they're related, but since some people are having massive issues with Exchange, maybe it's tied to that and will hopefully be solved in 10.8.1.

You need to log into your Gmail account and set up Step 2 Verification. Google it and you'll see how.

I had to do for Mail, Calendar and Googletalk through iMessage.

Had to move the family calendar to iCloud

In our family we used Google Calendar to share calendars, but since upgrading to Mountain Lion and enabling 2 factor auth we have had great trouble using the calendar.

One of our macs refuses to accept the app specific password for iCal - removing settings (via Terminal) and keychain info changes nothing.

After spending the better part of the weekend trying to make it work I gave up and moved our calendars to iCloud - contacts and mail are still in the Googleverse and works as expected.

I still don't know if the problem is with google (2 factor auth) or with iCal....
