How many of us are going to wait a little bit to get mountain lion or get it on release day ? Do you think the GM is stable or still needs to 'grow' a bit?

Thanks in Advance :)

Not sure. I don't think my MacBook will run it well. I'm considering buying an Air, or bumping the specs on my current Mac. I won't install ML until I make a decision.

I'll wait a couple of days, every man and his dog will be trying to download it at the same time for a while at release time.

Since developer testing does not uncover all the issues the consumers tend to run in to upon release of software, I'm going to wait a while before upgrading.

Also, I need to check that all the applications I use work properly on 10.8.

Probably will download as soon as it's up and wait the five or six hours it will take to download with the overloaded servers.

All part of the experience :p

Im using GM since Lion has been a piece of crap and I wanted to drop it as soon as possible (just in time too since about a week before GM release it started mysteriously devouring all my freespace and maxed out my partition causing the computer to be extremely slow, there was around 18gbs completely unaccounted for that it ate, I watched GBs disappear rapidly in Finder then gradually go back up then down without anything open). There are bugs but not as buggy as Lion and is overall better. Lion was the 2nd worst OS I ever used (worst being Windows 98), M Lion is quite a bit better even on day 1.

98 was your worst OS? Such a wonderful problem to have ;).

It's usually best to wait for the .1 release, however ML is the Windows 7 to Lion's Vista, so it's a "must have" for our Lion systems.

Now our Snow Leopard systems, well that's like Windows XP. Old but keeps chugging away.

That's absolutely right!

I think I'm going to wait a day or two. I really want it, but with this slow internet I have here on my trip, it'll take a whole day to download without the servers getting bogged down. Plus, there are a few games and programs I still don't know if they work with it yet.

I don't think I'll wait until I return home to get it though.

I'll get it first day as long as the App Store doesn't f up the downloads from too many users downloading. Hopefully it comes around the time my rMBP arrives :)

I think GM runs pretty good for what it is. One thing I'm going to look closely at is temperatures. I'm idling at 50C+ where it should be in the low 40's and I've lost about 30 min of battery time. But I'm pretty sure these are things in the OS that could be optimized for 10.8.1. Easy buy for me on release day.

Just remember, Apple has not officially announced this date - I am totally estimating based on what other sites (including this one) has reported. It could be the last day of the month or tomorrow for all we know.

Yes.

I've upgraded each time, usually on release day since Leopard and while I've only ever experienced minor issues, I always found work abounds or fixes for me.

Plus I'm still more happy with OSX than I ever was with Windows.
