Not yet. For lion, golden master was out about a week before general availability I think?

So, if the date is accurate, i'd expect a golden master say... next week-ish?

GM for Lion was three weeks before release.

IIRC the release date was announced during the earnings call last year.

ML needs to GM soon.

Related question is, between GM and actual release day, when will the new OS get pre-loaded onto new machines?

Anyone knows or have experience?

Fee OS Upgrade

Apple states that if you purchase a system after June 11th you are entitled to receive a free OS Upgrade to Mountain Lion. Typically they do this 30 days prior to the release of a product. If this holds true then it is possible that Mountain Lion might be released on July 10th which is this Tuesday.

No GM, no release.

Also, following the GM Apple will ask developers to submit ML compatible apps to the Mac App Store.

I’m testing ML Server.app and it’s very badly broken right now. I’m a bit worried that we’re approaching mid-July and there’s not been a stable or reliable developer preview.

GM is Out

Well folks, for better or worse the GM of Mountain Lion is now out with the release soon to follow. We are all still only speculating on a release date. This lack of information from Apple I think is ridiculous. What purpose could it possibly serve?

The GM seed is released with enough time that it can be tested by developers for any major bugs and also to provide developers some time to ensure their apps are ready to work with the final version of 10.8. That's the purpose of the lack of information- a release date isn't yet set.

A Wednesday? That seems a little odd to me... what day do they normally release new OS versions on? I thought, in order from most to least common, they were Tuesday, Friday, Monday?

It's not about Wed, or Tue.. It's due to the earnings call.

What I've noticed is that whenever there's a earnings call around (in the same calendar month), new (h/ware s/ware) releases are always scheduled behind the earnings call.
