I need to revert my iMac Maverick install back to Mountain Lion, but it appears to be unavailable in the App Store. Option clicking is not working. Any advice?

Do you have a bootable back up from before you upgraded like CCC?

No, I attempted to re download Mountain Lion from the app store, but it's not working. Clicking on the icon says it's no longer available on the App store and searching for OS X revealed Mavericks only.

I went to the Apple store and it was confirmed that Mountain Lion is terminated. The only OS I have on disc is the original 10.6. Is this still secure enough to use?

Have you tried to boot in Recovery mode (CMD-R) and request a clean install (Internet access required) ?

Ah; it looks like it's back at the app store again. I actually solved my original problem with Mavericks, so I won't be needing it after all.

What was your problem/solution? I'm currently trying to go back to 10.8 because I upgraded to Mavericks which would not get to the login screen. I even re-installed it and it had the same issue.

Taking down Mountain Lion is very inconvenient, by the way. Should have backed up...

I have a very strange graphic issue with my 2009 iMac I7. I damaged the motherboard video connector and have to use an external monitor. When the computer initially starts up, the video will destabilize and jitter every few seconds, especially if there is any motion onscreen.

If I sleep the computer for a few seconds and then wake it up, the problem goes away until the next restart. Mavericks will not fix this unless it's been asleep for at least a minute. I found this out by accident.

I have never gotten an explanation of why sleep will fix this graphic issue and can't figure out what's going on. It's a mystery.
