Hey guys.

This will be the first time ever updating to a new version of OSX (First Mac was with Lion preinstalled). Can anybody tell me how the process is going to work this year for both the MBPR upgrade programme and buying Mountain Lion for my iMac.

The problem I have is that I really don't like doing upgrades on top of the current OS; is there a way of doing it so it would be a fresh install of Mountain Lion, and if so how would I go about this?

I'm the same way. What I do is download the upgrade in the Mac App store and use Disk Utility to burn the DMG to Disk or flash drive.

Edit:

Here are some instructions to copying the upgrade to a flash drive.

Ah okay thank you! I had this idea my head that it couldn't be done.

Bit of a shame that I'll get my MBPR around 13th-July 20th due to the crappy shipping times of 4 weeks. I'll probably only get a week out of it before I am reinstalling the OS with Mountain Lion.

Hopefully it comes out early July, did Apple give any other timeframe other than July?

I know what you mean. I can't wait to Mountain Lion is officially released.

When you get your code for your new Macbook it will add it to your account. You will be able to use it on all your Macs. Just download that image and burn to a disc.

Where do I get this code? Would it have been in my MBPR box or do they send it electronically after I register my machine?
