Hey all

The SATA portion of the Fusion Drive in my iMac went bad, so I replaced it, and all is well. However, my Time Machine backup was corrupted, so I need to recover data from the old drive.

I dropped the drive into an enclosure and Disk Drill is able to see almost all my data — but it would be really, REALLY nice if I could just mount this drive and browse it like a standard hard drive. Apparently, since it was once part of a Fusion Drive, it won't mount on the Desktop now??? Is there any way to get it to mount without losing the data it contains?

I hope this question makes sense!

Thanks,
Maury

I doubt it. having been part of a fusion drive. The partition map could be entirely on the SSD or stripe across both either scenario, you would not be able to mount just one of them normally.

Some data recovery firms -might- be able to get at the drive.
I said "might", because even for them, accessing only one portion of a fusion drive might be well-nigh impossible.

And even if they could, the cost would be VERY expensive. Many hundreds of $$, perhaps thousands.

Just how valuable is the data to you?

One more thought:
I know this doesn't help now, but NEXT TIME, use a backup program that will actually help you in a moment of need.
That means either CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, and NOT time machine...
