Hey all -

New owner of an Apple TV.

Several months ago, while browsing through a magazine, I thought I saw an ad for a mounting bracket that would allow one to mount an Apple TV vertically on a wall - say behind a flat panel plasma or LCD that might be hanging on the wall.

Now that I have one I can't seem to find the ad. I did find something from H-Squared that looks like it might do the trick but I was wondering if that was my best / only option. Anyone out there doing this?

Thanks!

Steve

Don't you need line of sight for the IR remote to work?

Thinking I can either a) bounce it off the wall or b) get a short IR extended to reach around to the front / side of the TV.

FWIW, you could go to Home Depot, get 2-3 18" zip ties, loop 'em around the ATV, and screw them with drywall screws into the wall. Problem solved for about $2.

As hot as the :apple:Tv gets, I would be worried about cooking the internals by changing the direction the will flow.

With it flat the heat moves up, if you mount it vertical, the heat will rise back over the internals of the unit.

But Apple products are so pretty! You don't want to show them off?

On another note...

Yeah...these are the H-squared brackets. I am tempted to try one.

My "display" options are limited. My Plasma TV is above my fireplace and all the wiring is running through the wall to an enclosed cabinet. My "tube" is jam packed full of wires as it is and I don't think I could get another HDMI cable to run through it. So putting the Apple TV in the cabinet is out of the question for now. Plus, no one would be able to see it anyway if it were in there. Thought on the wall behind the TV would be a good alternative and would allow good wireless access to my router (versus in the cabinet surrounded by other components.) I could always mount it in on the wall so that it could be seen - although I am not sure the wife will go for that. :)

hmm...

My significant other hates wires so much she doesn't care what I have to do, just hide the damn wires.

Tell her how much nicer it will look in the end.
