When I plug in my digital camera (Canon SD450) using the USB cord, iPhoto opens automatically and imports the photos.

iPhoto is having trouble importing a 643 mb video...it does fine with the 50mb smaller ones.

I want to get the video off the card, but the icon for removable drives never shows up when I plug in my camera.

Any suggestions? Possible another program to use?

Thanks.

The majority of Canon cameras will not mount on MacOS desktops. Known issue that's unlikely to change and results from Canon and Apple following different standards.

In your Applications folder is a utility called Image Capture. This is actually the master utility for importing files off a camera. Try using it. Also FYI you can change what happens when a camera is plugged in from Image Capture. :)

Otherwise, you might need to try a Windows computer or a flash card reader... :(

i might resort to using the 10 gigs of wasted space (boot camp) if image capture does not work

thanks!
