Well, because this arrived in my inbox just as I was about to enter my address. A friend sent this to me. Now, should I hold of buying a MacBook? Now I know that half of you are gonna come up with the classic, "If you need one, get one. If you don't - don't!" line. Well - maybe. But my laptop (G4 12inch 867Mhz Combo) is getting pretty old now and even though it isn't needed, I could certainly do with an upgrade. So, you decide the fate of my G4. It either lives, or it - just, I dunno, doesn't get used for a bit. :D

If you need it get it, if you don't need it then don't :D

Had to be a smart &$$. But seriously, it really comes down to do you want to wait and how important is this next step to you? Because there is always going to be something better coming "Next Tuesday" and if it is that important to you on what is comming a year down the road then you will always be waiting.

Now the reality of the claim has to be debated in the first place. I don't really believe it, but there's a little voice in my head that reminds me that Steve Jobs is famed for his hatred on the function keys. Now, the only thing to consider, do you really need that? I mean talk about on the 'Nice to Have but Not Essential' list.

This is not exactly new technology. Toshiba released pretty much the same thing 4 years ago on some of their desktop replacement notebooks. It's a gimmick at best.

I am a believer in ''Never judge a book by it's cover...'' but that website is awful.

Moving your mouse button away is nothing, once I actually clicked on the button, only to come back in a day and cancel the order :D

For only $2000, not only do you get the latest "state of the art" MacBook Pro with a blazing* 1.8Ghz dual core processor, you can get a free membership into Apple's new Beta Test Program too!

*Blazing for a Mac. It is also a PC, but due to artificial controls, it is the only PC that can run OSX!!!!

Touche... satire is the bastard step-child of wit. ;)

Down on Copperline...
They recessed the buttons? Aw come on! I was looking for more of that indiscriminate wacky full from my laptop while I was typing. I hoped for experiences beyond just jumping randomly from line to line, giving me those lovely red squiggles in Word. For a brief shining moment the possibility of whole new applications or actions sprouting forth as though they were sent from on high lay before me. Now that hope is dashed.

Geez, Apple is really taking all the joy out of the computing experience.

Yeah, that's a bit goofy. Interesting concept, but I just don't see it being all that useful.

As for the upgrade? That's exactly what I'm doing. I'll let you know how happy I am with the difference in a week. (By my estimate, the MBP should be the same speed or slightly faster on PPC apps than my 867MHz PowerBook, and totally blow away my PB on native apps.)
