Greetings!

I have a nice Microsoft Bluetooth mouse 5000 that has a side button. OSX doesnt see it at all. Back when i was using my old Macbook 3,1 in 2012 with Lion i had intellipoint? i think it was called and the driver worked. But in Sierra on my MBP 9,1 i cant seem to find a suitable driver to say enable expose or spaces with this button. As well as to be able to separately scroll the proper way on a mouse unlike the natural way on the trackpad? Any suggestions?

This seems to be the nearest but only officially supports up to OS X 10.7 : https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-gb/d/wireless-laser-mouse-5000

No luck on the MS downloads/drivers page I'm assuming?

You could try a third party driver. I use Steermouse and I like it. It's not free but there is a 30 day trial for you to test it out.

OP:

First, try USB Overdrive:
http://usboverdrive.com/USBOverdrive/News.html

You might also investigate SteerMouse (as mentioned above):
http://plentycom.jp/en/steermouse/download.php

One of these will almost certainly recognize your "extra buttons"...

OMG thank you. I tried USB OverDrive last week before the post to no avail. but Steer mouse works a CHARM! now my microsoft mouse has proper scrolling and clicking the wheel activates mission control. Thank you very much!
