I am using a Logitech MX Master 3 and just started learning Blender. In Blender you use middle-click a lot. Unfortunately, the scroll-wheel (which is also the middle button) is super sensitive and every time I middle click I also scroll (zoom) a little, which is incredibly annoying.

Is there any way to set up something like a "dead zone" so that the wheel needs more movement before scrolling sets in?

I am using SteerMouse but could not find a setting for that.

Honestly, seems like maybe more of an issue with your particular mouse than anything else. AFAIK, none of the 3rd party mouse drivers I've used have such an option. Currently I'm using Smooze Pro and it doesn't have anything like that either.

Thanks. I might just switch to 3-button mouse emulation in that case…

Why not make the button at the top of the mouse (below the scroll wheel) be a middle click instead of the scroll wheel? You could even set it as a Blender-only option if you use it for something else most of the time.

You mean the tiny buttons usually used for switching between the wheel modes? That feels extremely un-ergonomical to me, unfortunately.

You could also set one of the side buttons? Or the weird "app switch" button on the wing thing that juts out where your thumb is.

I find that if I set my MX3's Smartshift ON and set it's sensitivity to 85% the wheel is pretty "solid".

Never heard of that? Is that part of the official driver? I've never installed the official driver since I use SteerMouse.

Yes, it's in the Logitech Options app.

After seeing this thread, I used SteerMouse to set the "middle click" (pressing down on scroll wheel) to "back" (command-[).

I have my scroll wheel set to "smooth" (no clicks), and even though it's quite sensitive to any movement, pressing "straight down" on it still seems to work fine.
