this has been mentioned on another thread, but wanted to ask here; are others experiencing this?

often, when i wake my imac, one-finger scrolling does not work (using a magic mouse2). i have to turn off the mouse, then turn it back on... and then scrolling works again.

reported it in feedback assistant; just curious if others are having this issue.

yeah, same here. I thought my mouse went bad so I tried a different one (1st and 2nd gen) but the problem persisted intermittently after wake. Same as you, turning off and on the mouse seems to reset it to working condition, but it's extremely annoying to have to do it every time. I sent feedback to apple as well, so hopefully on the next monterey update it gets fixed.

trying an smc reset, and... so far, so good. but will it last? will report back over the week (and anyone else who does this could report in as well...)

EDIT: and no, not an actual fix. had to turn mouse off, back on again... to get scrolling working again.

Yep. Two M1 Macs, two apple mice, both stop scrolling and need to be turned off and on again.

Same here. SMC reset worked for a week, but the scrolling issue is back and had to use off/on again. Sigh.
i think you just had a good week; i reset SMC, but the problem returned the next day. don't think it actually helps with this particular issue, and only apple can resolve this (unless someone finds a workaround)...

For me, it's now "flaky". For two days I had to power off/on, today after waking up from a half day sleeping mode, my Magic Mouse works fine.

I hope this fix it in 12.1.

Got the 2020 MacBook Air M1. Have had this issue since day one. I have been restarting my computer at least once a day and thought it could have something to do with the external monitor. I then read some people had the issue with the trackpad. I also reported it to Apple and also talked to a tech and he said they were aware of the issue. Turning the mouse off and back on is the best fix for the time being. No more restarting! The worst situation I am up against is after finally getting screen sharing to work well, after 15 years they it is worse than ever. The tech said they are aware of that too. I need that for work and really don't want to go back to Teamviewer.

Since I reset my NVRAM (or PRAM or whatever), I haven't had mouse-not-scrolling mouse troubles but I am sure I just jinxed that.

You can’t reset the SMC, because the M1 Mac doesn’t have a System Management Controller. You can’t manually reset the NVRAM / PRAM because your Mac does this automatically, if needed, during every startup. I have found the easiest way instead of restarting for the first week to simply turn your mouse on and off and it solves it. The rest is up to apple to fix this along with screen sharing which now have at least a 20 second delay on the monitor however no voice delay. There was a day that there were no major issues on new OS releases. Those were the days and they are gone for good.

I have the same issue with my 24" iMac and mouse, only just started a few weeks ago, I got the mouse replaced thinking it was the mouse as I have a trackpad that scrolls fine, new one is the same.
Turn it off and works for awhile then stops, Apple made me do all the trouble shooting before I got the replacement and nothing worked.

if it's short term, why not just power cycle the mouse? simple, takes a minute...
Mainly because that involves restarting my mouse 10-15 times a day mid-workflow (I sleep my Mac when I walk away out of habit) versus restarting once a week or so 😢
