I'm going to purchase a couple of games from "Steam", like Portal and Half Life.

Is my keyboard and/or mouse sufficient or do I need some kind of game controller.

I searched the web but all the articles are before Steam came out and were not helpful.

I have a 27" iMac 2.8GHz Intel Core i5.

Thanks

Games like Portal and Half-Life 2 are 'PC first' games, meaning that the typical FPS controls apply.

Not sure what you mean about articles before Steam came out, since Steam was out 3 years before Portal and launched with Half-Life 2 ...

But the thing to remember is that Steam is 'content delivery' and has no inherent control requirements. Games you get there ... vary widely.

For example, recently the two games Shank and Deathspank were released on Steam, both 'work' with either keyboard & mouse or controller. But whereas Deathspank works very well with keyboard & mouse, Shank really needs a controller to perform well.

All FPS work better with a keyboard and mouse, and most other games do, though in my opinion a controller is better for some games (third person games, racing games etc)

Well I am talking on a Mac forum, so I meant Steam for Mac which has only been available since April of this year.
