does anyone know a mouse that looks great with the alu imac and its alu keyboard? the MM is not very good for stuff like gaming and some other tasks like right clicking.

I cant find any good mouses that are white or simplistic or clean in its design.

Logitech and microsoft makes all these freakish mouses.

Razer has some products like the deathadder that look good, but they are mostly black and full of crazy colors and lights out everywhere, and they dont seem to fit the style of the imac very well.

also anyone know some good mouse pads that look good with the Imac? Steelseries has some good ones that are big, which is good, but im not to sure. hmmm.

ANYTHING is better than the Mighty Mouse...
I personally have the Razer DeathAdder, and it runs fine on my Macbook, my only complaint is that the cord is extremely long.

One mouse I can recommend is the Logitech MX Revolution. That mouse is pretty nice and would easily compliment the aluminum iMac .

i dont mind the mighty mouse but

logitech does a nice mac mouse :)

i use razer lachesis for my pc (4000dpi :D)

I have one. Best mouse I've ever used.

My Mighty Mouse that came with my Aluminum iMac broke (scroll ball) so I got a new one. Then the scroll ball on that got clogged up too... so I felt it was time to buy a different mouse that WOULDN'T suck balls (pun intended).
So I bought the MX Revolution (Which is also on it's second model since the first one they sent me was faulty. But Amazon replaced it for me promptly - the new one included a UK plug which was nice since the old one had some weird french one with an adapter, which isn't as good... so in a way, I got a better deal by it being broken!).
It looks good with my iMac since it's black. It doesn't fit in as well as the Mighty Mouse did but it certainly doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

There is nothing but praise that I can give to this mouse in a Mac - particularly Leopard - environment (I don't think it would work as well in Windows since there isn't any expose or spaces to control).

The scroll wheel is great and the whole thing is literally software customizable to some extent. The buttons can be used for ANY key or key command (So, for example, the two buttons on the side could be used to copy and paste, or type "l" and "o" so that you can write lol without needing to touch your keyboard (although that's pretty sad ;P) or - what I've done - control spaces, backwards and forwards)
It's a REALLY nice mouse and very powerful. You can set the buttons to do different things in different apps which is REALLY nice. Especially for things like Photoshop where you might use two tools a lot.
It's also wireless which is nice, and the best thing is that it's rechargeable, meaning you don't have to spend loads on batteries! Just plug it in and it charges. The battery lasts a long time, too. Mine has currently not been charged for four days and it's only on 2 out of three bars - which is much longer than you get with standard AA batteries like in the Mighty Mouse. Plus, the indicator is very subtle. It's hidden under the glassy bit (Although it's plastic, but it looks like the iMac glass) and only shows up for a second or two (fades in and out) when you move the mouse after it being stationary for a while (The laser goes to sleep when you don't move the mouse as to save power).

All-in-all, if you're going to buy any non-throw-in mouse, I honestly recommend the Logitech MX Revolution to anyone. Scrolls like a dream, feels like a dream but the thing is, it's real!

P.S. A Bluetooth one recently hit the FCC (Which I'm kind of annoyed about! haha) so I would wait for that one if you're going to go for the MX Revolution - it's best to save your USB ports for other things other than dongles, lol.

My favorite is the corded Logitech MX400. Color aside, it is a great piece of kit, and much more conservative than a lot of the other offerings.

I think the new apple keyboard is fantastic, but I will not go near one of the mighty mice...

Boo all you want buy my 6 year old Microsoft IntelliMouse still works wonders for any of my systems. Its wireless, I use it to game and its got plenty of buttons which help out in gaming and surfing.

I really like this one from Kensington. Wireless, plus the middle ball can be used as either a mouse pea like the Mighty Mouse (only better), or, by double-clicking the button beneath it, like a trackball.

I like it a lot.

One word in that is likely to put a lot of people off.
I just wish there was some kind of middle ground in mice for Mac computers.

Apples offerings all look really cool, but suck functionally. Logitech's offerings all work rather well, but look like ass.

If you're not a gamer, you don't need the fifty button science-fiction mouse with three different colours and textures, you just want a nice conservative, simple modern looking mouse that works.

If only Apple could just get the part right where it works ....

For simplicity and good looks with aluminum it is hard to go past the silver Logitech V270 (if you don't mind bluetooth).

The best thing about the MM is the scrollball. I don't think I could ever use a non-sidescrolling mouse again.

It's not the best mouse ever, but it's still pretty good. I guess I will wait for a MM refresh.

I couldn't disagree more with this opinion. While I am not in love with the design of every mouse Logitech manufactures I think they don't look any worse overall than any other company's.

I add my name to the list of those recommending the Logitech MX Revolution. It is the best mouse I have ever owned as well and I happen to love the way it looks. I think it looks particularly good next to my iMac's aluminum keyboard.

I disagree again if you're including the MX Revolution in this commentary.

I have grown so dependent on both wheels and every button on the MX Revolution in Leopard that I couldn't imagine going back to anything else.

I thumb wheel up for Expose and thumb wheel down for Spaces, press thumb wheel for dashboard. My single favorite feature is the dual function middle wheel with the super fast free scroll mode. The two buttons on the left edge I control iTunes volume with. Every button on the mouse is in use regularly.

I don't like mice.

They are just Trackballs upside down! ;)

I use a Microsoft Tracball - 5 button - scroll wheel

It's an ancient remnant from my PC days, and I am literally wearing it out.

Trying to find a comparable replacement, but it seems they are not that many made any more. That's a shame because the fact that they do not take up desk space to move around is great. Not to mention I am more accurate with a trackball than with a mouse.

Sorry to be annoying but the MX Revolution dose side scrolling if you nudge the scroll wheel to the side. So horizontal and vertical scrolling :)

Exactly the same here. I'm not a fan of logitech, really. My old PC mouse was a Logitech one and it wasn't too bad. I had no problems with it... but the MX Revolution is just amazing.

Yep :) I'm the same... although I don't use my side wheel as much because I have it set to scroll as well (for when I need precision scrolling - I don't like the non-free spin mode for the main wheel. I think I'm going to break my mouse.)

Really, if you're going to spend any money on a new mouse for your iMac, there really isn't much better. The MX Revolution is laid out so that you don't need to concentrate hard to use the buttons, or contort your hand to reach them and each part of it has been thought out carefully and actually very well. It feels nice and it looks nice. Apple should take a leap out of Logitech's book with this one. The Mighty Mouse just feels cheap and horrible compared to this - especially with the way the dirt collects on the surface... ew...

I also use a VX Revolution, but when I'm transferring a lot of data over my wireless network, the mouse will often lag behind.

I'm transferring 36 GB of data right now and I can't use the VX. I had to pull out my Mighty Mouse.

Using the Mighty Mouse reminds me how much I love the mouse, but the lack of a back/forward button for web browsing keeps me from using it full time. What was Steve thinking? How can you release a mouse with a back button for web surfing?

I now use the wonderful logitech M-ual 120 laser.
